How Horolune came to be
Horolune opened its doors on Soi Charoen Krung 43 because this stretch of Bangkok's old quarter has long housed the city's most careful craftspeople — goldsmiths, tailors, and, for a quiet decade now, a watchmaker.
The founder spent eight years working within a Swiss movement repair operation before setting up independently, choosing Bangkok not simply for its location but for the mix of clients it brings — Thai collectors, expatriates, travellers passing through with a grandfather's Omega in a cloth pouch.
The workshop takes only the volume of work it can attend to properly. That has meant turning away jobs on occasion, which is not how most businesses operate. We think it's simply honest.
Since opening, Horolune has serviced movements spanning seven decades, restored cases that had been sitting in drawers for years, and returned a number of pieces to daily use that their owners had written off entirely. That last part is, quietly, the most satisfying.

Restore function, respect character
We return watches to reliable operation without erasing the marks of their history. A worn bezel or aged lume tells a story — we read it before reaching for a polishing cloth.
Account for every decision
You'll receive a written condition report for every service. Not because it's required, but because it's reasonable — you should know what was done to your watch and why.
Be straightforward about scope and cost
Prices are clear. If a job looks like it may change in scope once opened, we stop and discuss rather than proceed and present a surprise invoice.

Eight years of Swiss movement training before returning to Bangkok. Handles complex mechanical servicing, vintage calibres, and condition assessments for all incoming pieces.
Nattaya Srisook
Restoration Specialist
Focused on case work and dial conservation. Nattaya trained in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, developing a careful approach to surface refinishing that preserves original character wherever possible.
Arthit Thamrongsak
Quartz & Sealing Technician
Handles battery renewal, gasket replacement, and pressure testing. Arthit runs the workshop's turnaround work with consistency and care — same-week results for most quartz pieces.

How we hold ourselves accountable
Ultrasonic Cleaning Protocol
Every disassembled movement goes through an ultrasonic cleaning bath before lubrication. This removes residual oil degradation that manual cleaning alone cannot reach.
Timing Machine Verification
Reassembled movements are tested on a timing machine across multiple positions before return. Results are noted in the condition report — rate, amplitude, and beat error.
Water-Resistance Pressure Testing
Cases with water-resistance ratings are pressure-tested after gasket replacement. Watches are only returned when testing confirms the seal is sound.
Before & After Documentation
Vintage and restoration work is photographed at intake and at completion. Clients receive copies — a record of condition and of what the workshop changed.
Secure Storage On-Premises
Watches in our care are stored in a secured cabinet when not actively on the bench. No watch leaves the premises without the owner's collection or explicit instruction.
12-Month Service Warranty
Mechanical service work is covered for twelve months. If a fault related to our work develops within that period, we attend to it without charge and without argument.
Workshop Philosophy
On watchmaking and taking one's time
A mechanical watch movement contains anywhere from 130 to 400 individual components depending on its complexity. The smallest of these — escapement wheels, pallet jewels, hairsprings — are handled with tools that would look oversize in any other trade. The patience required to work at this scale is not something that can be accelerated.
Horolune operates on the understanding that thorough work takes the time it takes. Turnaround estimates are given honestly, not optimistically. If a movement reveals a problem not visible at intake, we stop and discuss rather than press on and explain later.
Bangkok has a long tradition of skilled craft, and the Bang Rak area has housed artisans of many kinds for generations. We see the workshop as part of that tradition — a small, careful operation that does one thing and tries to do it well. The city offers a steady flow of interesting pieces, from vintage Thai-market Seikos to Swiss movements brought through by collectors and travellers. Each one gets the same methodical attention regardless of its age or value.
Our clients range from people who simply want their everyday watch to keep reliable time, to collectors who regard a piece as part of their family history. Both relationships carry the same basic expectation: that the watch will come back in better condition than it arrived, with a clear account of what was done. That is what we work toward with every job that comes through the door.
